Dr. Sweeney, a Gamer at Heart

Being an avid gamer himself, Dr. Sweeney felt it only right to place video game consoles in each of his operatories. Patients of all ages are encouraged to watch T.V. or play video games while in the dental chair - even while Dr. Sweeney is working. And if you get stuck at any point in your gaming, just ask Dr. Sweeney - he might just be able to give you some tips!

 

Choosing a Game

Before your appointment, please ask front office staff for the gaming folder so that you and/or your child may look through the various options and decide on a game.

 

The System

Dr. Sweeney has chosen the Nintendo Wii and the XBOX 360 as systems of choice for the office because they function with a wireless, traditional hand-held controller. Younger children who have difficulty holding still while gaming may be encouraged to watch T.V. instead while the doctor is working.

 

Saving Games

Those avid gamers that would like to bring in memory cards so that they can play a previously saved game are encouraged to do so.

 

Game Ratings and Parental Permission

At Hometown Dental we are very sensitive to the fact that parents deserve the right to monitor and/or approve of the games their children are playing. Please inform the staff if you have rules regarding video games in your home! Regardless of the rating, Dr. Sweeney only chooses games that fit his personal moral and ethical standards. Parents are encouraged to read the following rating symbols and decide for/with their children the games that work best for their family. Any game rated higher than "E" for Everyone must have parental permission to be played.

ESRB Rating Symbols

EARLY CHILDHOOD
Titles rated EC (Early Childhood) have content that may be suitable for ages 3 and older. Contains no material that parents would find inappropriate.
EVERYONE
Titles rated E (Everyone) have content that may be suitable for ages 6 and older. Titles in this category may contain minimal cartoon, fantasy or mild violence and/or infrequent use of mild language.
EVERYONE 10+
Titles rated E10+ (Everyone 10 and older) have content that may be suitable for ages 10 and older. Titles in this category may contain more cartoon, fantasy or mild violence, mild language and/or minimal suggestive themes.
TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.
